Born in the Netherlands in 1954, Dick Van Heerde's love of art developed at a very early age and led him to take a number of jobs which would allow him to increase his skills and knowledge of the art world.
Having become a full-time artist, he made the first of many inspirational trips to Africa in 1989, when he visited Tanzania. He has since traveled extensively around Kenya and his paintings and growing reputation have resulted in his recognition at a number of major exhibitions in Holland, Germany and, most recently London.
