Robin realised at a very early age that he wanted to be an artist and at the age of 15, finding it to be the most challenging subject matter, began to teach himself how to draw and paint the human figure.
In 1996 after completing foundation Art & Design in Nottingham, he embarked on a BA Honours Degree course in Illustration at Falmouth College of Arts, Cornwall.
Robin works predominently in oils based on traditional painting techniques and methods, being influenced and inspired by many artists and illustrators of the Victorian/Edwardian era, including John William Waterhouse, John Singer Sargent, Sir James Jebusa Shannon, Sir John Everett Millais, Arthur Rackham, Alphonse Mucha, Edgar Degas and Jules Bastien Lepage
