Damir Šimić was born in Sisak, Croatia in 1966.
Although he won several state prizes in drawing and model making as an elementary school pupil, his life path was directed to the different course.
In 1995 he started his own business. Although the business was proceeding successfully something was always missing so he decided to do something about that.
In 2001 he enrolled drawing course at the Educational Center “Rokov Perivoj” in Zagreb. That act sat in motion unstoppable process of intensive education, which still continue.
The year of 2002 was a turning point in his life. In that year he decided to change his life completely and irretrievable.
In 2003 he finally took a first step toward his long yearning educational goals. He started to attend curriculum at the Angel Academy of Art in Florence.
Throughout his education he has been the recipient of several awards. They have included “ First Place ” 2004 ARC Scholarship Competition, “ Purchase Award ” 2004 ARC Scholarship Competition and “ Honorable Mention in Drawing Category ” 2005 ARC Salon Competition.
These awards confirm correctness of his decision to throw away all limitations and dive in to the most exciting whirlpool of painting.
Now that he looks back and thinks about his former life, he can finally understand and explain his internal restlessness. His passion toward drawing and painting and his tendency toward creative work, which are unquestionable deep inside him, were trying to rise on the surface.
In 2006 Damir graduated from Angel Academy of Art. Currently, he is working on a series of still-life painting and portrait commissions.
