Kevin is a traditional freehand painter, self taught, sometimes venturing into surreal, and inspired by the natural beauty of life here on Earth and beyond.
His genre of artwork is often an extension of his hobbies and interests.
Birmingham born in 1953, Kevin Parrish spent his formative years in the county of West Midlands.
Although enjoying drawing and painting from an early age, Kevin first made a career as a Civil Engineering Technician/Draughtsman, on a contract and permanent basis in UK and overseas from 1971 to 1995. These opportunities to travel and experiences gained, helped him expand his ideas and thoughts about life. Also it made him more confident about what he really wanted to do, which was to return to his former love of visual Art. After being made redundant from a Consulting Engineering firm in 1995, Kevin decided to pursue Art and Illustration full time, after a successful part time excursion with The Guild Of Railway Artists from 1993. He has since developed his styles with surreal illustration, including Space Art, science fiction etc. and later developing his portraiture, figurative, landscape scenes, including railways and canals. He has recently ventured into black and white oil paint, creating period scenes in Birmingham and London, and generically, depicting life in the 20th century with Warwick Studios, in Royal Leamington Spa, UK His former career helped him become more disciplined as an Artist, and as a result, a better one, than when he first painted in oil paints in his teenage years, in the 1960’s
In the meantime he has become renowned for his “minds eye “ concept art creations in Rock Music fan clubs, including The Friends of Mike Pinder, The Moody Blues Fan Club and Yesworld. He created a CD cover for Paul Bliss, keyboard player with The Moody Blues in 1997.
He has donated artwork to charities at Science Fiction (Dr Who) conventions and Rock Music fan clubs.(Moody Blues)
His artwork has appeared on CD covers, CD Roms, limited edition giclee prints, boxed canvasses, calendars, magazines, brochures, greeting cards, postcards, jigsaw puzzles, Rock music fan club newsletter covers, etc. .Some of Kevin’s images of Railways and Canals were published by Newcomers Gallery Ltd. in 2002 as “open edition prints”
He is now an established “Live” Artist working on “Retro feel”projects in black and white at Warwick Studios Gallery since September 2006. This followed two successful exhibitions with Warwick Studios in 2005 entitled “A Celebration Of Life” In September 2007 Kevin was approached by the prestigious publisher De Montfort Fine Art to join them. However he decided to stay with Warwick Studios who have plenty of exciting ideas and challenges to keep him happy.
He has exhibited at Warwick Studios Gallery in Royal Leamington Spa, Royal Birmingham Society Of Artists, Guild Of Railway Artists, Inland Waterways Exhibition and the Jane Powell Art Studio in 2001. His artwork (on prints and cards) can be seen at Publishers trade stands in recent years at the International Spring Fair, NEC, Birmingham, UK. His artwork can be found in private collections in UK,(including an original painting of Birmingham City Council House hanging in the Council House, Birmingham), Europe and USA.
