Peter Curling was born in Waterford, Ireland in 1955. His family moved to England in1963 and Peter was educated there before going to Florence to study drawing with Signorina Nera Simi. He also spent a short time with John Skeaping R.A. He moved back to Ireland in 1975 and since then he has lived and worked there.
Peter is closely involved with horses, his colours have been successful on the race-course and he rode his own horse Caddy to win a race at Limerick Junction in 1985. As his home became surrounded by horses, hunters, ponies for his three children, and brood mares and their foals. His work from a studio in his house, and as well as painting horses at exercise and on the race-course he enjoys the challenges of depicting the local landscape.
Peter has exhibited at prestigious galleries in Dublin, London and New York. His prestige within the art world is such that , at a charity event, one of his cartoons was auctioned for £500,000 ($800,000).
