Lifelong Companion

Dogs have always played an important role in John’s life. He has two black Labradors of his own which are the source of much of his inspiration, John studies their movements and habits very closely. He feels that in order to paint a good picture of a dog, one must get into its mind and almost ‘become’ the animal; to know how a dog thinks and behaves is enormously important.
It is this innate knowledge of dogs that makes John’s images so highly sought after mainly because he is able to capture the personality of the dog. His technique over the years has evolved from an illustrative and almost photographic technique to a much looser and painterly style.

John’s driving obsession and burning desire has always been to improve with each painting, and although it has been hard work, John has enjoyed every minute of it.
